OK I was playing with my router settings and changed the ip of my router to 192.168.1.63. Now I am unable to get to the config pages of the router. Before I screwed it up it was 192.168.1.1 now I try typing in the 192.168.1.63 and I get nothing. I also changed the subnet but I didn't think that mattered. anyone know what I did and why I can't get back in.

I know I can hit the reset button on the back but I would rather not do all of that. Any help would be great. Thanks,

    Ben

Power cycle the router and restart the computer, once Windows has loaded try it again, it it doesnt work then reset the settings to default and see if it will let you back in. I changed the IP in both my routers and had no problem.

I have power cycled many times and reset my computer(linux not windows) many times. I even scanned the entire block of IPs 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254 and i get a reply back from 192.168.1.63 which just so happens to be the ip I set my router to. Like I said the last thing I want to do is reset the router. Anyone else have any ideas?

Issue resolved. My issue was nothing more than me being an idiot. I know that my network gateway is my routers ip. In Windows XP I know to go to the support tab of my connection and that my default gateway is listed there. In ubuntu there is a connection properties window and on it my ip is listed and a "broadcast" ip. I assumed the broadcast ip was the same as the gateway it seems that is not the case.
My routers ip was 192.168.1.5 and mine is 192.168.1.10. The broadcast ip was 192.168.1.63. Now this is what is strange to me. The router is configured with an ip range from 192.168.1.9 to 192.168.1.58. Where did this .63 even come from??
The problem I started the thread with is corrected. But if anyone knows where this "broadcast" ip .63 came from I would love to know. Thanks,

    Ben
