I might be an internet fraud victim

To make a long story short, I ordered a book from Motolit.com for 149.00 including shipping the first of May with my debit card. After waiting for 2 weeks I thought I would contact Motolit customer service to see if my order had been shipped. No reply from Motolit. I emailed customer service the following day and again no response. So I called the telephone number on the web site and the number is not in service. Now I'm concerned. So I Google Motolit book complaints and end up on an eBay page full of complaints from people like me who have paid for their orders but the orders were never received. Motolit has been suspended from eBay as well.

As of yesterday it has been three weeks and still no book and no contact with Motolit. In the mean time I sent a book by mail across the country and it only took a week to arrive from Oregon to Connecticut. Tonight I’ve filed complaints with the US Postal Service, the FTC, The Arlington MA Better Business Bureau, the Arlington MA Police Dept., the Internet Crime Complaint Center, and the MA Attorney General. Has anyone else had experience with this? Are there other avenues for me to use to file complaints?

    Thanks,

    IMSA

The first one that comes to mind is to contact your Banking institution and have them put a stop payment on your "Debit Card" payment to Motolit, probable to late now though. Internet Rule one never use a debit card for payment on the net. They could or can drain your entire account, a CC is much safer, as most can stop payment up to thirty days.

Sorry I do not mean to preach, it frost's me to see well intentioned people being scammed. All the best

I'm with BC on this one. always use a CC for online or tele purchases. I had my security breached a few months ago. It was red flagged by my bank when someone tried to use my CC # in Maryland (almost 2000 miles away). The bank immed cancelled the credit card and issued me a new one. btw it was breached with my PayPal acct. Good luck and remeber that if they are the type to keep the money and not send the mdse, they are also most likely the type to use the card again and again. Best to notify bank and get a new card and number.

    Hi there,

This one company "Motolit" really seems to be a fraud, as even after clearing $103.90 from my account (C.C.), it does not respond to my e-mails nor does its telephone work. I thought I was the only victim, but there are others like me here. I can do little, sitting here in India. Dunno what to do.
