I know that this is probably the stupidest software to ask for, but I run a site where I get a lot of e-mail from people who want to be part of my newsletter. The newsletter I send out is sent via yahoo's normal e-mail. I am tired of trying to send e-mails that way. What is the easiest program for a beginner user to do this?

I have an e-mail list, and I just want a simple to use program. I tried one calles "worldcast", it seemed pretty easy but it would not work. I want one that I can use with my IP. Ummm... because the one I mentioned (worldcast) used my IP to send. It has another feature called STMP, but I did'nt know how to use that. & when I tried it failed. Please help me. I have a lot of e-mail to send. I'm a first timer. This is not for ads and stuff. If it was I would obviously already know how to do this.

    Hi superstar

This is not a stupid or silly question at all. But I know what you mean, newsletter software is not discussed as often (or is as popular) as many other software types. If you are looking to more easily share professional expertise, or keep in touch with relatives and/or colleagues as well as keeping customers up-to-date on your business, a newsletter is the way to go.

Google the exact terms: "Newsletter Publishing Tutorials and Tips" (including the quotes). Those terms will produce a search result of a webpage on the thesitewizard.com site which would definitely be a good place to start looking into the process of starting your own "successful" newsletter. The webpage has not been updated in a while; but the information is still relevant and a great starting point for "beginners."

There are literally TONS of Newsletter Publishing related software programs out there (freeware as well as shareware). I know a lot of people do not like Microsoft, but I have used their "Microsoft Publisher" program to create newsletters in the past. I bought an older version from e-Bay for a fraction of what the program originally cost. It worked great, and was very easy-to-use and navigate, particularly for those who already know how to navigate Microsoft programs such as Word or Excel because the menu set-ups are similar.

    Good Luck!

Can you use images and attachments such as mp3s for people to download within a message using that "Microsoft Publisher" program you speak about?

The version that I used was Microsoft Publisher 2000. Using this version you can easily add images by inserting Clip Art as well as pictures that you have on your computer; just like you can when using Word. As for adding attachments such as mp3s for people to download, I’ve never done that so I’m really not sure.

I actually haven't used the program in quite a while. The newsletters that I was asked to set-up at that time were all very basic; and there were many options and features available in Publisher that I did not need to use. For instance, the program can be used for far more than just Newsletters. When I first got it; I used a free online Microsoft Publisher Manual to learn to use the program.

There are many free online websites which provide step-by-step instructions as to how to use the program. You might want to hunt around on Google a bit in order to determine if the program suits your needs. Search using the terms Microsoft Publisher Manual or perhaps Microsoft Publisher Tutorial for the best results.

For instructions from Microsoft Google this exact phrase:
"Microsoft Office Assistance: How to create a publication in Publisher" (Including the quotation marks)

    Good Luck!

All I need to know is if the program let's me send unlimited or tons of e-mails at the same time. Or is it one by one?

No matter what publishing software you choose; the problem that you will likely run into here is with individual ISPs and STMP servers; regarding sending "unlimited or tons of e-mails at the same" all at once.

The trouble is that most ISPs simply do not allow their users to send "mass e-mailings," (also called bulk mailing) irregardless of the users' reasons for sending them, as a condition of their terms of service. Many ISP’s will have so-called "flood detection" turned on. If so, when they see that users are sending out many emails all at once in a given length of time than is allowed, they will cut the user off.

The reason for this is that Internet Service Providers are very affected negatively by spammers. If they "allowed" users to send bulk mass-mailings; their networks would get flooded with spams and both their lines and server slow down causing their customers to go looking elsewhere for a provider.

Also, when word gets around the Internet community that they are allowing spam, it gives their company a bad reputation; much like when word gets around that a program or utility has suddenly added spyware. Sending spam violates the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) of almost all Internet Service Providers, and can lead to the termination of the sender's account.

Since you said earlier that you "want one that I can use with my IP" I’d suggest that you contact your ISP and explain the situation to them; that these mailings would not be unsolicited e-mails (spam). Ask them what programs and mailing methods that they will allow for you to keep in touch with people who want to be part of your newsletter. They may also limit the "number of emails" you can send simultaneously, so you should ask them about this as well.

Another thing that you might consider doing since you said earlier "I run a site where I get a lot of e-mail from people who want to be part of my newsletter" - You could find out from whoever hosts your website; how to place a link of your website say, on the home page; where folks can easily click on that link and download the latest copy of the newsletter (or back issues) from that home page.

    Good Luck!
