I need a good multiplatform browser

I'm kinda picky in that I would like a browser that works well with my various systems. I want one that will work in Vista, XP, Ubuntu 32-bit and Ubuntu 64-bit. So far, Firefox seems to work decently enough, except that on my EEE PC, it runs a little slow and on my Ubuntu 64-bit, it always starts in a weird half-fullscreen mode. I then have to press F11 twice for it to go normal every time I open a new window.

I tried Opera, it seems unstable on my Ubuntu 64-bit and Vista. It actually cost me a little money when it locked up and I was downloading a couple MP3's from Amazon. I had to pay twice to download them again.

All I want is a lightweight browser that runs fast like Opera that runs as stable as Firefox (minus the whole half-full-screen thing). I'm guess that there is no Shambhala, I will have to settle for one or the other, but I would like input from other members before I make that decision.

Hold the shift key while closing Firefox and that will save the window size.

What are you using that you NEED ubuntu 64bit? I found for my casual browsing that 64 bit was not that stable and many apps did not work well. I had to reformat to go back to 32 bit.

Also until you get the stability repaired, download from Amazon in Vista seems a good option. ;) I have Amazon downloader functional here.

Nice tip, that should solve that particular problem.

There are several reasons I use ubuntu 64bit.
    1) People don't use 64-bit OS because of the poor support and developers don't support 64-bit OS well because people don't use it is much. It's a cycle that needs to be broken. By using 64-bit Ubuntu, I am telling developers that I want them to support 64-bit OS.
    2) The computer I run 64-bit Ubuntu on has 4 gigs of RAM.
    3) Ubuntu 64-bit runs stable enough with programs that are designed to run with it. It is easy enough to tell the buggy programs and the stable one. ex: Firefox = stable, Opera = buggy.
    4) It won't be too long before we all start switching to 64-bit OS because of RAM constraints and I wan't some experience with them.

I already sent Amazon a message voicing my concern about there not being a Ubuntu 64-bit downloader. Hopefully they will remedy this someday (look at bullet point #1 above)
