ok, first of all my CPU temp is around 57C and id like to lower it but it not working for me so I need some pointers. I have 4 fans - 80mm in back, 80mm on side, 80 over cpu, 120mm in front (loud muther right there). All these are only getting in to 57C...? before I had the 120mm i left the case on the open desk with just a regular fan blowing into it (I used to use this fan to cool myself till this problem came up) and when i had it open with this fan it got to a MAX LOW OR 49C!! lol ya ok so wat could I do to cool this down????

    Hello,
    I hope this helps.
I have just upgraded system to.
    AMD athlon 64 3400+
    Gigabyte K8NS pro MB
X1 200 gig Maxtor internal HD
X1 160 gig Maxtor internal HD
X1 80 gig Maxtor internal HD
X1 80 gig Maxtor external USB HD
    Antec Server case.
    430 w PSU
    X2 front fans
    X2 rear fans
    X1 HDD fan
    X1 exhaust
    DVD - RW
    DVD ROM
With the standard heatsink mounted I was seeing temps like you.
    This was BIOS readings.
Today I have replaced the PSU to 650w triple fan and fitted the Gigabyte 3D Rocket pro, and all I can say is "wow".
My CPU temps have bottomed to 30 c idle and 36 c on full load ( really pushing it ).
So the PSU may haved helped but I am more than impressed with the rocket pro, i really did not think it would reduce temps this much "I was wrong".
The cooler fits most CPU's and comes with all fittings.
Good buy, give it a try !

Ok, I was wondering which is better? Water cooling it or this 650w triple fan and fitted the Gigabyte 3D Rocket pro? I just need to get the heat down and get this 120mm jet fan out of my computer. Also I havnt really dealed with water cooling systems so are they easy to install and work? Thanks for the responses so far

I'm having the same problem, i've got an amd 64 3400 with a venus 12 running flatout and sounding like a jet engine, two 80mm intake fans, two 80mm exhast fans and twin fans on my 600w power supply, the chip temp is 57c at idle and 68c full load, the case temp is 25c. i think i need a better cooler. (i was thinking of buying a small deepfreezer to pute it in)

I've orderd a ThermalRight XP-120 and a 120mm fan to mount on it, hope this will get the temp down a bit.

I have tried loads of assorted heatsinks & fans in the past.
I must honestly say that the 3D rocket pro is the only one that has made any noticable difference.
I am not that bothered about the overall noise ( and believe me there is some ).
The triple fan 650 PSU unit runs everything just great but once again it adds to the noise.
The puter is like a jet areo-plane taking off.
But it runs cool...ha ha ha

I think i might get some ear plugs as well. that will cure the noise problem LOL.

you could do what i did lol its a F14 tomcat lol but the games and Music i play blare it out and you cant even hear it lol

2 80s in the back of case blowing out

1 80 in side blowing in the case

    2 80 in front

    1 80 in bottom

a 120 in top of case blowing in the case [i try it both waysand it cools alot better by blowing in insted of sucking out the top

and then 120 and 1 80 in the psu

and a pci fan below GPU

    and 92mm on cpu

2 hhd coolers [both have 2 60mm fans on them

ok sure its loud but it runs GREAT because it runs cool

i use Thermaltake and ARCTIC COOLING for the 80s

    50cal

Now then, I'm no master of thermal dynamics... but...
tower cases are a dumb design. I took the side off my tower and laid it on it's side. Result? 7Celcius heat reduction on chip, 5Celcius on the mobo. And it now fits in with my amps and stereo :D
I'm running my xp2400 at 2400MHz and on full load it's 53 Celcius with an 80mm fan running at 2700rpm

What ? I couldnt hear that last post for the noise ! LOL
    serious. It works great.
At least when I have my usual evening drink>>>>I know the puter is turned on.
Cool as a carrot just looked now 31 o C well thats great after good load.
3d rocket I love you XXXXXXX
    At last low temps.
    LOL

honestly, I think theres a 747 gettin ready to land...ear plugs wont work for me. lol. Im really thinking about getting a water cooling system but the cost is making me think. Theres two things I wanna fix. Noise and Heat! Before making my new comp i had no sound problem (mainly because it was a piece of shit) lol. Im thinking of carving a chunk out of the side of my computer desk, then taking off the side panel and setting one of them 3 foot tall fans... that should do it dont you think??? lol

yea that may work but then the DUST builds up EVEN faster so realy you not helping anything

and what kind of fans you have in your pc remember a fan is not just a fan

theres good one and those that just SUCK lol

I've solved my overheating a bit. my mobo is a dfi lanparty ut nf3 250gb. i updated the bios to the latest one and the temp readings droped by 10c. so my idel temp is now 48c still high but when i get the new cpu cooler it will go lower (well i hope it will LOL) :)

My a64 3400 is running at 2.4gh that might have something to do with the heat.

OK. I have to ask !
Is your fans blownin the correct direction ? in at the front and out at the rear .
Have you got your cpu seated correct with the right amount of compound ?
Are you reading from bios or software ?
Sorry got to begin here !
    Steve

Good questions but yes the fans are all blowing in the right direction. the internal case temp is 25c only 5c above room temp. i'm reading the temps from the bios and two seperate programs motherboard monitor and a program that came with the board. i've reseated the heat sink three times using arctic silver 5 compound with no change to the running temp. the bios update corrected a faulty reading of the temps but it is still high. i've orderd a ThermalRight XP-120 and a 120mm fan to mount on it. this might solve the problem.
    I hope.

Well you seem to be doing everything OK.
I hope your Thermalright HS helps.
I had this prob and the gigabyte 3d rocket pro was the answer for me.
I am running lovely and cool now ( prob the best temps I have seen out of any of my PC's )
Best of luck and keep us informed of your results.

Well... i was looking at that gigabyte 3d rocket pro and Im really liking it. Im willing to try it since its cheaper than my 200+ water cooling system I had plans for. Question is how much did you spend on it and where can I buy it? Thanks
