I need help please

I've been using pcpitstop.com to run tests to see how my computer is doing as far as performance etc. My scores have been kinda low & I've got some problems that need to be resolved. If someone has the time, can you please review my results & give me some pointers how to make my computer more efficient? I've been to the pcpitstop forums, but no one seems to be able to help. Sorry to bother you folks, I know it's been a bit hectic after the blackout in the northeast.

I have more performance flags than you

 

Hey Adrynalyne, I got a kick out of that one.

 

I guess you thought I was joking.

Sarcasm will get you nowhere.

The only performance flag you have is for IE. Leads me to believe that the test thinks your computer is optimized and running up to par per the system specs. WHat more do you want?

Upgrade if you want better performance. Better yet, save some money and get 2k/XP, where real performance, and stability lies.

Get an OS that will actually better utilize your ram and manage your resources better. Drop your AV and firewall while benchmarking.

Get rid of Norton products that slow down your system and use their faster counterparts.

Overclcock your CPU.

Turn off whatever you have shadowing in your BIOS, because you are only registering 511mb of ram.


Aside from that, you may as well spend some time in upgrading your parts.

 

I would say you are doing well considering the test results.


CPU: Speed Rating 2958 (102% of 38571 similar)
Memory: Speed Rating 2120 MB/s (98% of 38571 similar)
Video: Performance 95.9 MP/s (102% of 352 similar)

 

I wouldnt trust these tests too much anyway. They think I am on fat32 LOL.

On top of that, we have the exact same readings on bandwidth, same ping, etc. etc.

What are the chances? Slim to none, and Slim just left town.

These tests are a gimmick.

 

I'm concerned about the Min/Max reading under "Configuration" and the internet speed problem. Is it possible to have the phone wires switched? My upload & download speeds should be reversed with a dial up modem.

 

Well, according to that site, you and I have identical performance ratings on our net connection.

I am on a 1.5Mbps up and down connection.

Don't trust what it says. Its so far past wrong it isn't funny.

Thanks for the help. I called my ISP & found they are having difficulties on their end. I've been checking my bps & found I'm only connecting at 40,00 to 44,00 bps. Time to find another ISP.

Anyway, those Brits did one heck of a job on it, it won some kind of fancy award, and my favorite author notes it in his book alot.

 

What is it and what does it do? Can it be uninstalled?

 

SiSsoft can help you identify your hardware to several decimal places and test it too. Very useful tool, if anything to help you quote your specs.
