I need help with a router

I am tring to host a game server though a lynksys 4 port wireless router.I've never set one up before and been messing with it all day long tring to get it to work.I get on the web with all my machines but noone can see my machine on the web.I'm tring to ip forwarding but I really don't understand what I'm doing and the book is no help.

I'm sure u guy know how to do it.Thank

 

If you know the port that needs to be opened and forwarded to your PC, it's a simple matter of logging into your router's web interface and mapping it to the LAN IP address of your computer-- you'll need to know what it is. You can find out what it is currently by looking at the Status of your Local Area Connection. Usually the interface asks for a range with a starting and ending port number to forward-- just put the same port number in both if only one port number is specified.

It would be a good idea to consider gving your PC a static address in case you have other PCs on your LAN-- the IP of the computer you have the game's port forwarded to may change if your PCs are being dynamically assigned addresses by the router. You would need to do this in the TCP/IP properties of the Local Area Connection of your computer.
