Hm, this issue is that I have created an 8GB Partition for my OS to install onto. The outcome is that the 8GB I wanted it to be was turned into 7.54GB or something around that... Now I am having problems installing software, and I am starting to suspect that it my be due to having like 2gb's left in my OS partition. The Harddrive is supposed to be 150GB but we all know that that size gets screwed over when installing windows... On a good note I have created an additional 80GB partition for games alone. It is odd when I try to install anything I DL for the net cause it does not want to work... I am thinking of a total wipe and reload because this is a new system anyways so there is nothing Vital... Please help me with this

Which version of Windows? Win98SE and older are the ones that have the most problems, and partitioning doesn't solve the problem.

    Need input.

A 8Gb partition for a OS and associated apps is way to small for XP, double that and you should be okay............You may Partition for (x) Gb, but you have forgotten that the Partition its self requires space......slightly less than a .5 Gb in XP. Hope that helps frankzro

You just told me to wipe and Reload basically :D I have a copy of Vista Ultimate I been waiting to mess with so Im just gonna Clean install it and wipe out XP and see what happens, cause Im getting some weird errors and I hate it... Games Malfunctioning and shit. Plus that freaking small Partition... Uhhg well its all good though cause XP does not see my 4GB's of expensive ram corsair it only sees 3 and on top of things I have a 320 GB 3GB/s on standby :p

Hate to say this, but PLEASE wait before installing "Vista" over XP, I think you will find way more problems going that route, your "Partition" size is a small problem, versus the problem's you might find with a "New" OS.

When I installed XP I used a 500 Meg HD, part of the whole reason I went that route was to boost my HD size.

The further back you go in OS the smaller space you need, which is why I asked in the first place.

If you load your Vista Ultimate on your XP machine and register it, you own it. I would use a secondary internal hard drive for games, and run XP on the primary, and possibly upgrade RAM. but I wouldn't buy a Vista upgrade either. Unless I was upgrading from 98 or ME that I bought on the cheap, and then installed on a newer computer, that came without an operating system. And then upgraded it to Vista. Nevermind, I wouldn't purchase a Vista upgrade.

Guys, this is my computer lol http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=124846

I just built it, and now I am pissed... Vista would not install onto my system at all and I kept getting blue screens for no reason. XP works flawless and nothing stops it all the memory works fine I think. I dunno right now cause XP is only reading like 3GB's of it so what if one stick is bad?. Hmmm I should check it out
