theres something wrong with my pc and i cant figure it out and its just pissing me off.i bought new video card and im getting the same problem i did with the 7800! u have no clue how upset i am.I cant play bf2 even on low which i shouldnt have a problem with cuz i could play it on high with a 6600.I get skips, lag maybe its just ea gay patch with 1.41 i have no clue.but i need a conculsion now im fed up with puters.Im shelling out to much money, even 200 bucks isnt alot it is for me for spending like 2,200 on a computer.Im almost done with it all i need is a direct 10 card,a beter mobo, and a stock fan,and more ram

this is what i have right now.

    1gb ddr2
a really good gigabyte board aka mother
    a xfx 7900 pci e
    antec 500 watt
    5 fans including stock 4 r 80mm
    a 400 gb hd
    dvd burner 18x

before i updated the 7800 and it was fine on rb6 vegas, now with this card im getting the same crap with it going black.Im so upset,i cant even type full sent in bf2 cuz i get this spike of lag where i run and stop and run somewhere totally different.I cant even run a straight line without looking somewhere different totally different directions.

ive updated all my motherboard stuff

could this be my psu giving out on me or something i totally have no idea what to do anymore.

Here are the problems that I've gathered from your post:

    BF2 - lagging/skipping
RB6 Vegas - black screen (when?)

Is this right? Are these the only problems you're having? Try to explain the problems more thoroughly in order to help find the problem and possible solutions.

For the BF2 skipping/lagging, is it only online? Does it also happen during single player campaign?
If it only happens online (not in SP campaign), that's just online lag that you can't do much about game-wise (nothing system-wise).
If it also happens during the campaign and you still suspect it's a patch issue, try reinstalling, don't install any patches, and run around in campaign. If it still happens, it's not a patch issue.

This is all the advice I can give due to the little information given. Try playing other games (online and offline) and report in detail any problems you come across. I can tell you that it's not the PSU. If that was the case, you'd be having more and different problems not involving games.
Try fiddling around with graphics settings a bit and see if they make any difference in terms of lagging/skipping. It shouldn't, but try just to make sure.

You upgraded your graphics card just a tiny bit (ie not that much of a performance increase) hoping it would fix the problem? Bad idea, and a waste of money. If you think you're spending too much, stop. Just stop. Think about what you're buying, if you're really sure you need it, and do the research to make sure you'll actually notice the difference in performance. IMO there's no point in getting a DX10 card if DX10 software isn't even out yet, and by the time they are prices will have dropped significantly. At least the first gen of DX10 games (such as Crysis) will also be playable on DX9 cards (minus a graphic effect here and there), so don't feel forced to get a DX10 card just so you can get a couple more graphic effects.

well a 6600 well a 6800 was the power horse for that game to max it out.where i had a 7600 it was just fine at full settings, im playing the 2nd best series on an old 2 year old game.on low thats what i cant understand u might be ever since 1.41 patch its been different
