Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, MGdonalds.

    Quick questions:

Are you running the same Windows version and Service Pack # now as you were before?

What was the reason for reinstalling Windows - were there problems that might affect the installation of the camera?

What's the make and model # of the camera, and the make and model # of your computer?

    Hi

In Device Manager do you have any Yellow ! marks as if you do, what items are they by as it could be that your are missing the Chipset driver, which adds compatibility for USB devices, and/or you maybe missing a USB driver for a specific port,

Have you tried this camera in another USB port, preferably one of the back motherboard ones, near the ethernet port?

What is make and model of your Laptop?

    Hi

Unplug the USB camera, then follow the below

Download and install the Intel Chipset driver from MSI HERE (its the one for the Neo motherboard) click SAVE (save to your desktop) and then unzip the driver folder then install, once installed reboot and then when you get the Windows Desktop showing plug in the camera again and see if Windows picks up the camera.

all the drivers for your motherboard are HERE as a fyi

You might try accessing your BIOS and see if there are any USB or Legacy USB settings that can be adjusted, see if you can change your symptoms.

If you have another computer available, you might try plugging in the camera, see what actions are taken or required to install the camera - might give some insight as to what's going on with the original machine.

You stated that the camera worked the first time. You might try running the XP Hardware Wizard, see if Windows might be able to locate a driver.
