I need New RAM

Hey I'm looking for a new RAM Stick for my PC but i am confused on what to buy.

My motherboard is a DIXONSXP, model P4M900-8237A

I currently have in it DDR2 PC2-5300 1024MBytes and DDR2 PC2-4300 512MBytes.

If you can show me Compatible type's from this site http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/ I would greatly appreciate it.

 

Best thing to do is go to crucial.com and run their little app. It'll give all the options and the recommended memory from which you can see if something matches on your site. What do you want to do? Increase the memory?

The obvious difference is one is a Dual Core and the other a Quad Core and you will find "many" differing opinions about this topic. Arguably the best summation is.....

"The Intel quad cores provide a maximum clocking speed of around 3 Ghz which is comparable to the high end dual and is a lot more expensive than Intel dual cores. With a greater (12 Mb) L2 cache, the processing speed is indeed enhanced for the quad. However, you won't see the difference in the operation of a high end Intel dual core and a Intel quad, unless you run graphic intensive applications or application that use up substantial processing power. So unless you are doing "graphic" intense (some Games, CAD, Video Editing, etc) processing you may not notice any significant differences.

With that said the Dual Core has a stock clock of 3.06GHz vs the Quad Core at 2.5GHz at "stock speeds".

For the average user on everyday tasks the Dual Core by be slightly faster (maybe hard to discern and or quantify) but if you need "processing power" for intense application work (not gaming) the Quad would be better.
