Hello again. Windows XP was not the appropriate OS on a PC that had Windows 98SE. The Setup was terminated. At the boot screen there are two OS offered. I want to remove Windows XP Setup for mthe boot screen. I have lost my printout of how the original Windows 98 SE boot.ini file should look. Thank you for any help. :)

Windows 98 does not have a boot.ini file.

If it does, I just learned something new. :)

You should just delete the boot.ini, run "fdisk /mbr" via a 98 boot disk, and cross yer fingers that 98 boots back up.

But, a quick question, did XP apply NTFS to this drive? If so, backup your data, delete the partition, re-install 98, and restore any data. Due to the fact, that going from NTFS to FAT32 requires buying specilized software.

Thank you for the reply. Win 98 SE does not have a boot.ini unless you try to change it...then you have options when you boot...I will check but am almost certain that it is still FAT32. I have had a couple of responses as to how to take the Windows XP Setup option off the boot screen. I will get back to you. Thank you again
