Hi, would anyone be willing to name some moderately-priced routers that could work for me in the following situation?

I'm hoping to connect two desktops, one each in two separate buildings, which have an approximate distance of 130-feet between them. The router would be located on the 2nd-floor of one building, connecting to the PC in the other building which is at ground level.

Here is one which I found on my own - http://shopper.cnet.com/routers/bel...-3319_9-33361546.html?tag=contentBody;compare - would anyone have an opinion on it?

Here's another one which is obviously more expensive - http://shopper.cnet.com/routers/d-link-dir-655/4014-3319_9-32145084.html - ...would I need this much to achieve a decent result?

I will need a good, strong network adapter as well.

    Thanks in advance,
    g...

Thank you very much - I appreciate the reply, and the link. I do like the more-compact design (and the base/stand) of the one in your link (as space is an issue), and the price is on the lower-end of what I figured I'd have to spend (ALWAYS a good thing! :)

    Thanks again...

Oops. That was the adapter you linked me to ... I glanced at it too quickly and thought that it was a router.

I found the same adapter you linked me to elsewhere for about $10 less...so it looks like I could get the router and the adapter for about $120?

So the (first) router I linked and the adapter linked in the reply should well-satisfy my needs which I explained in the original post?

    Thanks in advance,

Well I'll be ding-danged :cry ...I lost-out in my bidding for this router on ebay.

Am wondering if I should still pursue this particular model, or if there might be others that are suitable for my particular requirements?

I also found/read a review of it (somewhere?) and it noted that performance could be greatly increased with this --> http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Intel WiFi Link 5300:1996275750 ... ??

If I were to get this router, would I be better-off with this adapter as opposed the aforementioned adapter in this thread?

    Thanks,

ok...would anyone be so kind as to tell me if this router might fit my need here?

I'm hoping to connect two desktops (a Dell/XP built in 2002 to a Dell/Vista built in 2008), one each in two separate buildings, which have an approximate distance of 130-feet between them. The router would be located on the 2nd-floor of one building, connecting to the PC in the other building which is at ground level.

    Thanks in advance...
