I need to find an alternative to GoToMeeting w/ Win7

I do remote desktop support. For users off site and not on our domain, I normally use an online meeting tool called GoToMeeting. Lately I’ve been having problems with it and Windows 7, it never recognizes the pop ups that Win 7 gets when you try to install a program or remove a program or make a change to the computer. Thus I have to have the user sit in front of the PC and click ‘yes’ all the time. In addition to that when I try to run Computer Management or regedit I basically have to have the user click threw and type anything I need done. This is not beneficial for me or the user. Has anyone had any experience with any other online meeting tool and windows 7 that would eliminate this problem? LogMeIn? WebEx?

Thanks in advance for any input you have

I use on premise RHUB remote support appliances for remotely accessing windows and MAC computers. It just works flawlessly without any hassles.

Another vote for Teamviewer. The great thing is, you can access the unit from afar, through your web browser. When I set units up for people, the first thing I do is set up Team viewer, then give them the option to either do an invite to their machine and show them how, or have them sign an agreement that I have a password set on their machine, that allows me to remote access only for remote computer repair, and that is all it is used for.

I also show them how to use it for Video conferencing with others, that use the app, along with Whiteboard. Teamviewer is probably the best out there, when it comes to getting a good product for free as a consumer.

Another +1 for TeamViewer. As an added bonus, it is available for Windows, Mac, & Linux OS, as well as Android & iOS for mobiles. The PERFECT cross-platform solution!

Since the OP only posted once and that was 2 years ago, I think he found help elsewhere and we can assume he won't see any recommendations.

oh boy...you are correct plodr...my bad.

I don't know why, but MG is acting strange today, and this thread showed up on my feed as the most recent post. I didn't even bother to check the date, but you are right...November 2011! He probably either found his own solution, or gave up!

Weird that MG would display this as recent. Is that why all of us posted today on a 2 year old thread?

It happens Hedon. Some of the slower forums on here, you will come across stuff that is only five or ten posts down, that is over a year old.

As for bringing it back to life, it actually helps with the searches on the download repository side. If you do a search for Teamviewer now, it will show this post as a part of the search for the program.

Sometimes there are reasons to bring old threads back to life, other times, it is better to just let them die even at the first post.
