I used my spyware detect to scan system. It deleted something. When I tried to boot up ME it wouldn't. I used my system disc from my laptop which is XP to boot this comp. and get on line. How do I get back to system restore in ME. I know I have a good restore point and when I tey and get the XP takes me to it's original install point and thats it. I'm pretty new so I need step by step if you can help. Thanks

Press the Ctrl key during bootup and see if you can start in Safe Mode.

If you can reach Safe Mode, try :

    System Restore:
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Choose a recent Restore date, but one that is previous to your problem.
If your 'System Restore' is inoperative try a registry repair:

    Registry Repair:
Start > Run > type scanreg /fix , noting the space between g and / Select 'OK'

If still no improvement try a registry restore:
Start > Run > type scanreg /restore , noting the space between g and / Select 'OK'

You'll usually see five backup registry copies, each should be marked 'Started'. Choose a fairly recent one (preferably the most recent), which has 'Started' written against it, as long as it's BEFORE the date of your present problem.
