I'm asking for constructive criticism. Not a---oles looking to stir up garbage, not apathetic morons speaking for the sake of their own opinion. This is a labor of love and it's important to me.

I almost disqualified myself because of the no morons clause. I would like to be honest and not reply, as I am "a pathetic moron" but I looked and it was "apathetic moron" which is different altogether

I like this one very much. There is a line of light going through the pelvic area of the lady angel. I can't tell you if it should be on the inside or the outside of the body but it seems too bright within the dress. Other than that I really think it looks great.

Not bad at all, with the exception being the wings to do not look natural to the child. It is however close enough, and brilliant just the same

Descriptions critiques:
As far as description, it broke my heart. Can't put it any plainer than that. I will post it on a forum I visit and maybe it will get some play.

and yes, it broke my heart too... and my moms. Holding that itty bitty coffin in my lap, on a day that should have been raining or miserable, but was unfittingly nice.... it was just a day I wont soon forget. This is how Im choosing to cope. Thanks for the support, and if you have a spare million lying around to donate, hey... this is out of my pocket. It'd help theres oing to be donation revenue products for sale, but it seriously goes straight to domain fees.

Wenchie, I think the renderings are lovely, in my opinion, the wings seem to be something to work on to make more seemless with to the composition,,also they are bonie LOL,,maybe a bit softer to match the rendering,

The mother holding child profile the creases of the wings leading of the childs back,,seems to be elongated to the top,very noticable,,,thinks a better blending and reduction of the seam may enhance the image,also the wings do not look as lifelike as the babies body maybe a blending there as well to merge the wings to the body ,,the mothers profile is lovely, just to catch the features of her face,and torso,,,Glenn

I find myself at www.cgtalk.com when looking for C & C ^^ You ought to have a look - some truly incredible stuff passes through there.

Anyhow, your stuff is looking great! Really like the clouds in the first pic. The only thing I might suggest is tightening up the lines on the wings in the second pic and maybe ditching the grey outline on the wing farthest from the viewer. Both minor, still lookin' good

I need logo ideas too, i have writer block and i want this to be a suprise for my mom, and if I go over to her house and ask to take pictures of the wreath, she'll get suspicious.... it's unique, its made of wound wicker and decorated in sea shells, mexican ornaments, glass baubles and trinkets, and several things that the children bought for him for christmas last year, not knowing he wouldnt be born.

so i can't exactly smack a wreath up there and call it a day... any ideas?

Wenchie,,,Much better !!!,, the blending of the wings to merge with the baby's body is greatly improved,,one other idea to possibly make it more realistic, the hue of the wings is primarly white,,,how about a little softening with a blend of flesh color leading into or the whole wing a flesh tone,,somewhere betewn the white and flesh...or a blending throughout the wing itself,??? Just a thought,,but a GREAT improvement from the first rendering, Glenn

Hey Wenchie I just found this thread, I must admit I like the first one (rendering) better. The second one just seemed odd to me. After looking at the rerendered one just obove I finally figured out why. Two left feet. I mean both wings look to be the same side instead of a left and right, showing bottom of one and top of other. While it looks nice and all, it's like shadows going the wrong way in a photo chop, you can tell something is off but just not real easily.

I still like the first better, and may have to commision you to make "Angel Bunnies".

OK, OK, a few years ago I had this wild idea and never could find an artist to make me a realistic bunny with angel wings. I bought the domain name and got space and was ready to go, well long story short, never took off for lack of artist, (greedy artists) maybe you can run with it.

Presumabley its the same as the inside, except it doesn't have dark markings on it. I dunno, but thats what I've seen before.

 

Hello, I went to your links posted above and viewed your work. I to am an artist, you can view my work under the topic of "check out fxmans website" but enuf of that. Your work is beautiful, the mother holding the baby "cupid" is a beautiful image and very well done. I love how the wings blend into the back I personally would not change a thing, you are definitely on the right track there is no dougbt. I know, it can be hard to imagine. Most chicken wings I've had have been plucked already. (pulling feather from teeth)

I think the biggest thing would be curvature of the wing. This could be a technical subject but basically the top is convex and the bottom the opposite. How to acheive that look, dunno, maybe shading and smoothing of the right wing. The top of a wing is typycally smoother, the bottom (inside) wouldn't have to be as smooth

You may have to make a trip to the petstore, hehe.

The outer side has a convex surface its outwardly rounded..while the inside is more concave, hope this helps,,the wing nearest still seems to be concave,,,should be convex,,,with a outward curve toward the viewer..picture a Eagels wings, or a airplane see attached ,this is a very difficult process to develop depth in the side view of the image,,,,not wanting to point out the ovious,,just some input,,,a great image it is , as it is,,but this would be the final touches,its lovely ,,, just my opinion,,,,,,Glenn

so far on layout, what you would want as advice if you went through it, anytihng you can offer

 

Right one thing you need to change the BG color of the body to #DFC19F, and also background-repeat:no-repeat; because at the moment it repeats in x ,which looks odd.

Your javascript thing for the menu is weird ... it doesn't turn back off when you mouseout, it looks like its got a timer on it. I would show you what you need to change, but you've escaped the page in javascript and I can't be bothered to unescape it

I'd get rid of the HR under the title and replace it with somthing more soft. I'd also make the edges of the pictures in the content rounded in some way. EDIT : oh, in IE its got an image for the HR, but in firefox it doesnt. Hmm.

I'd also make it 800x600 friendly

And I'd make a script to make the content div (or table?) change the bgcolor to #FBF8F3 if the browser isn't IE. Because the solid white looks a bi stark if its not semi-transparent.

 

Wenchie, is the white box supposed to be semi-transparent? When I view this using FireFox the white box is solid and covers most of your background picture.

 

I really like this piece. Very well done. (I'd like to use it as a wallpaper). Maybe a little more deffinition on the mothers wings, just a slight amount
where they leave her body they blend too much with the backgroung clouds.

I'm not fantastic on feedback Wenchie, but if you're looking for some more back-up/reassurance before you put it up, then ok.

I think the picture is lovely, and the right choice, I think the other one was a little overpowering for it. But I saw you used the other for some of the merchandise, which was nice.

Content wise, I don't know what I'd want if I lost a child, I can imagine but I don't have children, and I'm rubbish with them anyway. Something on Nicholas might be nice, you said on your DeviantArt thingy that it was partially for people to come and share their experiences, so maybe something to spur others to share. Although that seems a little obvious and is probably being planned anyway. See feedback nonsense from me.

Also resources, so your probably planning links to helpful places, maybe "in your area" stuff. I think what people might get the most out of, is the experiences of other people, and maybe some sort of support network.

I would say prayer, maybe some kind of religious element, but you'd have to choose the religion, and it will alienate some people, obviously, but who cares, if it helps, it helps. If you don't want to go religious, you could go philosophical, nobody's left out. I don't really know what I'm thinking of here, I don't have any suggestions about which philosopher's work you could go trawling through. But you always hear of people turning to the Bible, or otherwise inspring reads in a time of need, maybe ignoring it the rest of the time, but nevermind that.

Some people do seem to get angry or resentful at the suggestion that it's "all God's wonderful plan"

edit: I'm stupid, it does has an obvious religious element, the angel wings should have made something click. The letters to heaven is a nice idea, so great, go with Christianity. (I suppose I'm thinking in an over caucious PC Britain way now, bah, you're not excluding people, you're catering for a group) I'm sure the Bible has something comforting to say, other than "don't winge, it's God's plan." /edit.

I don't know what people would want in that situation, comfort, but I don't think I'd have the words for that.
Although, I think I'd be more inclined to turn to people who have experienced the same, either online or in real life, than to pull a philosophy book off the shelf.

Oh, other people have said the content box is opaque in firefox etc, it is in Opera too, works fine in IE.

Over all, lovely job Wenchie a lovely thought and a gorgeous picture, I didn't see nothin' wrong with the wings!
