I know this may be lame to many of you with more experience however, I have some great software in ".rar" and ".iso" files and I do NOT for the life of me recall how I installed it previously. A major pc problem has forced me to reformat my HD and now I must reinstall everything. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I have WinAce and WinZip on my pc and can't get either to install my programs with ".rar" or "iso" extensions which pretty much leaves me little to work with. Please someone show me a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for any direction or help.

rar is a file archive format. Download and use WinRAR from RarLabs to extract the contents of the archive. Don't forget to register the program.

iso is a disk archive format. There are numerous cd burning programs that read and burn iso's. Get Nero if you don't have it.

(sorry that this is off topic but...)
So using Linux will help this kitten...um ... ok...
This is the third reply I have seen you make that says simply: "use linux" which puts you on par with the spammers that send me 'herbal viagra -CHEAP!' messages everyday -you are hurting the linux movement when you spam like this. Please Stop.

    Da_Vinici:
Shadow_Puter_Dude is right. -WinRar will help you with .rar files -you can 'unRAR' (uncompress) them with winRAR and then use them. -Shadow_Puter_Dude is also right when he talks about .ISOs -with ISOs you need to burn them to CD using a program like NERO -and then use those burned CDs to install the software.
-Is that explanation clear? -if not you should post back to this thread and hopefully someone can walk you through it.
Hope this helped (and tell me if it didn't),
