I-Phone unlocking

i suppose this is the right section to post this sorry if it is not.
Ok well i am buying an i-phone from the U.S as i am here to take back with me to Australia but i need to unlock it and sim unlock it.
I have looked at a few things but has anyone else done this before?
Any tips or can anyone post some links to sites they used or know are good to use.
The phones firmware is 1.1.2

I don't think you'll find much help here at MajorGeeks. I've been visiting this site for over a year and I think you have posted the first phone related post I've seen. Also, we're a 'stand-up' bunch here at MG and don't openly support the unlocking of locked things... I've seen the how-to's out on the web for unlocking the iPhone, so a bit of Googling should get you where you need to be.

Hi

There are a few unlocking software tools around, however Apple have actively used updates to the phones software to block and render the phone dead if a user has unlocked it, so be very careful.

Main reason I have not gone with an iPhone is that I want it Sim-Free, can get one sim free from Germany as its laws govening devices are different to other countries.

Does the iPhone work in OZ?
Will it work in OZ anyway?
I haven't read of it being released in OZ yet.
Remember Aussie Telecom standards are usually different from just about all other countries. Bazza
