I screwed up

awhile back I had my laptop set up to hibernate when I was not using it but meantime saw a friend use the sleep option on his.in short I saw I liked I tried ... fooling in power management.since doing that I have Not been able to close the lid (like I used to) and go into hibernation.now the laptop shuts down when the lid is closed.No more resuming widows:confused can I undo what I apparently did in settings?

oh and glad to be back in the fold with a dumb question,it's been a long time.

 

I've done that several times already plodr,results are usually the same I get the Windows was shutdown unexpectedly error with start windows normally.first thing to come to mind was a heat or heat sink issue but I've been told all is well in that dept. I beg to differ because it is still happening.I'll see when I go to wake it again.

 

Can you post the exact error you get?

Do you have any files located under c:\windows\minidump? If so, upload them here.
