I have 3 reseller hosting accounts in different countries with different passwords etc.

They keep getting hacked and code is placed in the index.html files
the code pops up a window saying click here to download the latest adobe flash player. but it not adobe.

The only thing the 3 hosts have in common is ME

I think there may be something on my PC doing something with FTP or something

I don’t know where to start with this. and help greatly appreciated
I’ve got an example of the nasty code. if anyone is interested.

There is nothing we can do to help you with this since it is outside the realm of malware removal. If the machines that are doing the hosting are not properly protected and are not runnining properly updated software to plug up security holes.....well you can see what I mean. We cannot fix this or even find out if there are issues on them since you cannot run our scans on them.

Also if you are developing web pages or someone else is developing the web pages for you and you are not using updated software and taking proper security measures in your designs, then you will be at risk. No scanners really detect issues like this inside of HTML code since there are so many variations of what the code can be doing.

You would be better off posting this in the Software Forum or possibly the Networking Forum to see if anyone who does similar work has ideas for you.

I will suggest that you make sure that your passwords are not easily guessed. Make them be at least 8 characters in length and make them have to contain at least one lower case letter, at least one upper case letter, at least one number and at least one special character. For example

    This39Exam#

But try not to use words like I did. Jibberish is better if you can remember it.

Thanks chaslang, I thought that some spyware malware etc. might access FTP and attempt to screw things up. and as it seemed to be related to activeX I thought I was posting in the right place.

I did find a trojan when going through the reccomended procedures here and removed it. That along with password changes seems to have done the trick.

    Thanks for your advice
