I was trying to change the welcome screen when my computor starts up. I went to Account users in the conrtol panel & clicked on the limited account. I am now in a limited account. I can't change any settings. And I think I accidently deleted my administration account in my account users. There are no other accounts listed in the account users screen. No guest account or administrators account. Help I can't figure out what to do.

LoL I did that once... except I deleted ALL the accounts. I didn't know I had done it, I was just trying to delete a password I had set so that when I turned my computer on, it would automatically log on. Instead of deleting the password, I accidently deleted the whole account, along with the Admin account and any other accounts that may have been on there. I had to reinstall windows.

Thank you to those who responded to help me. I ended up having to restore the computor.

:confused Sorry I couldn't find a way to post, so I'm adding to this one which is closest to my problem except I wish I had deleted my Admin acct.
I know my Admin. PW but after about 3 or so months it would not accept the same pw I had been using. Can't change it because 'I don't have Admin. privileges?! Always get the message 'invalid password'. I have a standard acct. but I cannot delete, install, uninstall, download or even get to 'restore point'. Also the 'Parental Control' seems to have control of what pages, websites or whatever else they don't want you to see. My standard account has no limitations but is set at 'medium'. I have started to hate this computer. My husband refuses to use it. He bought a laptop. I hate to just get rid of it, but?....
Oh, one more thing, I can't update or change security in any way and my computer is at risk.

How to log on to your Windows XP-based computer if you forget your password or if your password expires

You may have to boot into Safe Mode to get into the default Administrator account.

To start the computer in safe mode

On the menu that you will see, you can choose Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking if you need to get online While In Safe Mode.

I have Windows Vista Home Basic. I have used safe mode several times, but not for
default admin. Will try it again. Thank you.
