Hi every1, i'm having a spot of bother here. I recently bought a P4 machine, i'll list parts to try and give enough info:-

    Antec P160 Case (2x120mm fans)
    Abit ic7-G mbo
    P4 prescott 3.0E
    Collermaster Aero 4
    1gig twinned corsair
    geforce FX 5950 ultra
    IBM Deskstar 160gb SATA

Ok. The problem is the prescott chip, since the day I installed the chip it ihas been running hot. The cpu temp is around 52C normal load, as soon as any game of heavy app is loaded the temp slowly rises up to 73C, now this is 4 degrees over Intels recommended max operating temp. I've checked the heatsink, even swapped it back with the retail one, but still no real change in the increase in temp. I've contacted my retailer and they have basically told me to shut up and live with it, as its a design flaw of the prescott and there's nothing i can do. The processor is a retail P4 (unfortunately my landlady very nicely threw away the box, what a lovely old lady aaggghhhh).

Does ne1 have ne ideas, I sooo wish i had a northwood chip, i don't want my new pc to burn out before half life 2 appears

if you've got the receipt you could probably still swap it out, otherwise try selling it on E-Bay if you really must get rid of it.
cheaper idea is to use some ArcticSilver 3 and a decent heatsink (like a ThermalRight hsf).
