I think this is the AV2009 Malware

    I've followed the removal threads as best I could. I did not get a completed message from running the MGTools program....it just kept saying that I should be patient.


    Also in trying to upload a rtf file of my screen capture I received this message from Major Geeks:

    Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

    If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.


    Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

    You got no error message when you ran the MGTools? The log is incomplete but we will start to do some cleaning anyway.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\DOCUME~1\MAXART~1\APPLIC~1\IDLESU~1\refmathpop.exe
    First the exe file and then the whole folder.

    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    If you are unable to run Avenger, you will have to manually delete those files and folders. If you do run Avenger, after the reboot, check that they are still gone.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it and see if it runs to completion. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    I uninstalled all of my anti-virus programs then did the copy and paste for the script successfully. I was unable to locate the C:\DOCUME~1\MAXART~1\APPLIC~1\IDLESU~1\refmathpop.exe files. I looked for them manually and with the explorer.
    I was able to download the Avenger zip and load it per your your instructions. I am attaching the logs from Avenger and Hijackthis.
