I thought I had this problem fixed.

I am getting quite fed up with this card.

I had done what was told of me a while back when I needed help. I didn't notice any problems...that is until I had to reboot my PC. I rebooted it with the monitor plugged into the Radeon VGA port. It started up fine...then it cut off. I had been confused. So I unplugged it (the monitor) and plugged it back into it's original VGA port and it came on. It worked fine, but having to do that really irked my nerves. So, as one of my friends from the IT dept. at my college told me to do, I disabled my original video card. The problem was solved, but my original problem had persisted.

When I try to run a .mpeg, .mpg, .avi, .wmv, the window/program freezes, then my whole PC freezes. I uninstall the drivers and attempt to reinstall them, but now I get a pop up window saying that my ATI drivers aren't installed, or they aren't working properly and my ATI Control panel will shut down. This is really getting on my nerves. Help me, please.

Hi m8,Twas me who advised you last time sorry you didnt get it fixed just to clear something up your old card is an onboard card,if so you have disabled it in bios:confused: ,if not you MUST remove your old card

I have experienced problems in the past with that video card chipset in my where the driver would not recognize the video card as compatible hardware for the driver, probably due to the age of the card or whatever,I reinstalled the OS twice and used 2 different methods to get the card to work, both of which worked

First make sure you remove both video card drivers with drivercleaner pro, follow the instructions I posted, clean first with nvidia and then with ATI after uninstalling the two drivers from add remove programs again follow the instructions in the readme to the letter

Once both drivers have been removed and you have restarted the computer and your running on the standard vga driver, connect to the internet, go to control panel\hardware\device device manager and find your vid card which will have a question mark next to it,click install a new driver but let it search windows update for the driver, let it download and install the driver restart when promted and check see in your web videos work

The other way I tackled it was by installing a third party driver that has been modified to be compatible with older cards omega driver,if you receive the not supported message or similar follow the instructions on this page in know issues which will allow you to install the driver

Ok, everything is installed and in working order. I haven't tried to play a video yet until I know why it's not working properly. But then, as I checked the ATI Control PAnel's FAQs, I saw this:

"What do I need to play MPEG videos under Windows XP?

ATI offers a multimedia player designed for RAGE 128 and RADEON based graphics accelerators for use under Windows XP. ATI Player 5.0 (or greater) supports Pentium-based MPC-3 compliant systems and allows the new ATI graphics accelerators to take advantage of MPEG-based videos, without the extra expense of costly MPEG hardware boards. Depending on your specific hardware configuration, ATI Player has support for multimedia features such as an Intelligent TV tuner, closed captioning and European teletext, and Audio CD playback. It also supports video/audio capture with full-motion, full-screen video, excellent color quality playback and MPEG video playback up to 30 frames per second."

I'm like, ok...so why the hell wasn't this included on my installation CD?

    Help please.

Ok, this is annoying me to no end. This card is becoming a bigger problem than I had hoped.

So, I download the ATI Player, but it needs a CD Key for it to install. I am really growing tired of this thing. I'm about ready to rip it out on my tower and shatter it on the wall.
