I tried and failed

    Hi,

    Thanks for being inexplicably kind people and helping strangers with their shit, and apologies for any unintentional deviations from what I was supposed to do.

    My browser (firefox 16.0.2) keeps redirecting me to nonsense sites (nonsense such as http://favoriteagent.com/lcm/a/?agent=964060&market=1) after I click on legitimate links while browsing. I have also had windows in the bottom right of my browser that say "Sponsored Ads" and which mimic language from whatever page I'm on, and then link to more nonsense websites. If I try to close this window, it minimizes to a "Recommended for you" link. Below are the logs I've been instructed to attach. Let me know if there are any problems, and thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    You may have just managed to install some kind extension into Firefox. The fastest thing to do may be uninstall Firefox.



    So do the below to save bookmarks:
    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
    Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

    You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

    Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.

    After reboot, delete the below folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Users\schut166\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla


    Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
    Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).
