I waited an hour and 10 minutes for a bus in a blizzard.

Oh how I love Canadian winters. The buses were running waaaaaay behind today and I had to wait over an hour in the cold to catch one. Then the bus got stuck in the snow for 5 minutes a few stops before my stop. It was crazy out today. The weather kept going from a white-out to nice and peaceful. The snow plows couldn't get out fast enough and the snow was almost up to my knees as I walked from my stop to my home.

I'm not really complaining about it because I love winter. I just thought I'd share what happened to me today.

I'm sorry you had to wait in the elements so long Colonel. But it does sound like fun:D Tomorrow we go with our daughter and her hubby to choose and cut down our christmas trees, so we'll be up at about 4000 ft. My husband tells me it's been up to his waist up there today and the logging equipment has had a hard time getting around. Haven't seen real snow in years..I can't wait! :)

That sounds like a great time. My family has never cut down our own tree before. I'm jealous. :)

Haven't seen real snow! Don't worry, I've seen enough snow today for the both of us. :D

I hope you have a good time cutting down that tree. Oh, and dress warmly. :)

We had a great time! Took plenty of food, blankets, coffee and water. Got the rigs stuck several times and had to dig out heheh. It was such fun, and the christmas tree now looks fantastic in the living room :)

When I get home I'll try and remember to post some pics up.

Good for you man...I kinda enjoy the cold and snow meself. I JUST got back from a long walk. Not sure how long, but I`m guessing three miles...and being on the south side of Lake Ontario, and with lake-effect snow falling...I sometimes wonder what our friends down south would think of it...if they really gave it a chance. There`s something in the air, the fresh smell...maybe...that you don`t ever get down south. I don`t care to be stifled by heat. I tried living south...no way I could make it go.

HMmm.. you see, that kind of Winter sounds fun. It just gets dreary, icy and rains in England. Well around here anyway, as a result i DETEST Winter, but i love skiing..

Could you send some REAL winter round here please? I'll get sizjam and goldy to collect it from the airport

@ Lev - I'm glad you had a good time. I'm jealous! :) My parents just put up a fake plastic tree. :( It's just not the same as a real one.

@ Sasquatch77 - I don't like the heat either. Being out in the snow is so much fun. I don't understand why most people don't like the cold weather. I don't think I could live in a place where it never snowed. I look forward to it every year just like a good Canadian boy should. :D

@ Huggamonsta! - Santa shall bring you snow for Christmas! :D

I walked about 4 miles in a heavy snowfall today. I felt refreshed, invigorated and got some serious thinking done. Goodness, I spent a winter in North Carolina, and if they got ani nch of snow they`re paralized, schools close, etc. Then it rains, or it`s fog. ACK. Living 8 miles from Lake Ontario I feel blessed. It smells so nice when it snows, everything looks so clean, and the only people that struggle with it are the people that refuse to adapt. I love it here.

8 miles from lake ontario, eh? I live in southern ontario. That's pretty close to you. We probably experience the same kind of winters.

I`m 55 miles east of Niagara Falls. On a clear day there`s a tall hill near here where you can see Lake Ontario. Perhaps when I make my trip to Lake Nippissing in February we can have a cold Canadian barley-based beverage together.

I lived five years in Kansas and Missouri, had my fill of the really cold weather….used to work outdoors and was in it…..now days, I’m living back in California, where it’s 1 ½ hours to the ocean, as well as the mountains…….a person can both water ski, and snow ski in the same day….and the nightly lows are a chilly 36f, but the highs have been in the low 60’s….just the way I like it…….wobbles

We've been -10 to -22C for a couple of weeks, with a couple of decent snowfalls in Southeastern BC. I'm with Angus and Sasquatch regarding winter weather. There's nothing like being outdoors on a really cold and "miserable" day when you're dressed properly. My long underwear is on for the duration now. Reminds me of a story I heard about a guy who lived out at his wilderness cabin for a winter. He left his one-piece long underwear on the entire time. He returned to civilization in the spring because he couldn't remove the underwear. His body hair had grown through it.

Guess he had to shave his underwear before he could remove them :D - ACK!

I wonder just how hairy this dude was - Coulda been a 'Sasquatch' too, maybe? ;)
