Good morning! Well, we had class last night and one of my fellow students (Mike5880) came up to me and said that he had a major problem with a computer and that MG's was able to help him fix it! He said that he was thanking me over and over because I told him about MG's!! I was extremely happy to hear that good news!! MG's rocks!!:drink:celebrate

OMG!!! I have a practice exam to prepare for the A+ test and it is frikkin hard!!!! :cry But I will persevere!!!

Update - Well, I finished my A+ class :clapand I will be starting network+ this coming Monday. My goal is to take the A+ exam within 2 weeks (601 & 602). What is interesting is I do not have test anxiety - but 3 students decided they weren't going to take the exam because they didn't feel that they were ready......isn't that what studying is for???? To say the least there were 3 students that dropped out

Anyway, I have been taking the practice exams which has helped to mentally prepare me for the test ( today I have done quite well) :clap.

We also had a new A+ class start about 2 weeks ago. Some of the students have joined us in the computer lab during the day and as we have chatted about computer things I always bring up this great forum called "MajorGeeks":-D Ya gotta love it!!!!!

I will for sure post my exam results.....I certainly will need the positive vibes from all the MG's shot my way the day of the exam (I will post the day of)

Again, I would like to thank everyone on this fantastic forum that has helped me in the past, continues to help me now and I know will be there in the future

The test is fairly easy I just got certified bout 5 months ago. One thing I noticed about the questions (At least the ones on my test) they word them in real life scenarios opposed to just definitions of technical terms. So instead of memorizing word definitions focus on the more practical applications of the knowledge you read. You are more likely to see questions like. "Joe recently turned on computer and noticed the monitor display did not come on but the light is still blinking. What would your FIRST step be in trouble shooting this issue?" or " A user recently connected to a wireless router in her office and it shows as connected however they still cannot access the internet, What could be a potential reason for this issue."

There all multiple choice most are fairly easy to narrow down answers on but you will encounter a couple brain busters Good luck!!!!

Thanks Halo!!!! Yes, I do plan on going after the MS certs. All the exams that I will be taking do charge, but through my school I get a discount. What type of discounts are your MSFT contacts talking about?

 

Thanks A - The practice exams that I have do give me real life scenarios which I am glad they do. I have one that is 600 different questions just for 601 and the same for 602. We shall see just how well I do!!! :-D

 

Thanks Halo - I know that here if you pay $125 you pay for the test and if you do not pass you get a free retake.....through my school we pay $60 for the test and if we dont pass it is another $60 - so in reality there is no discount to go the MS way. Also this is for the MCP exam not the MCSE exam....that cost I am not sure of....

 

Lucky I paid 185.00 for each test and if you fail the test you have to pay the same amount again to retake. And you have to pass two tests so that 370 you'd have top pay over if you failed

 

Now that just flat out S--KS.

 

Good morning everyone!! It has been awhile since I have made an update to my progression in school. I have completed the A+ course and tonight is the last class for Network+. Starting May 4th I will start the MCP class and will be done with school May 28th.

I have scheduled this coming Monday to take the A+ essentials 601 test. So I need all the MG's to say a Mhz prayer!!! I am very confident that I will pass :-D
This is the beginning of the test cycle!! Next is 602 and then Network+ and then MCP!! All will be done before the end of May!! (hopefully) :-D

It has been quite enlightening taking these courses to say the least! I have actually been given a computer to fix!! So far so good!!

When all is said and done I will be looking for employment - thank goodness we have a recruiter through school that will help me.

I will post again after I take my test!!

Well, today was the day for the 601 exam......I passed!!!!:celebrate

Thanks to all the MG's that wished me well and I have to say that having the Vulcan empire and the USS Enterprise didn't hurt either!!!:roflmao

Now time to move on to the 2nd portion of the A+......thanks again everyone:grouphug
