I am trapped in my computer right now. If I log off, I won't be able to log in without a ransomware amount.
Is there any utility that can expose the password of the current login ?
Or Can I use this from the CMD line ? Net User Account Newpassword ?

If you have been hit with ransomware there is not much we can do other than to direct you to sites that MAY have figured out their code. But as to creating a new password, that is for the software forum....which is where I will move this threat to. Good luck.

if you have been hit with ransomware and your files are encrypted then you need to submit a file to here The No More Ransom Project this should tell you what ransomware is and if there is decryptor for you files without paying the ransom. Then you need to run a good anti virus software to remove the ransomware virus.

Guys - You don't understand....this is not the typical ransomware situation. They spared me the encryption, as I am running on the hacked computer right now. All of the files are in-tact. But what they did do is change the windows password. So I can keep running this computer until it it is logged off or needs to be rebooted.
Once that happens and I can't log back in, I have to call them up and negotiate a fee for the new password.

These people seem to have a solution...actually two:

Ah...now that is much clearer. Can you create a new user account as an Admin?

Thanks Tim....and so I checked this out in the control panel and it appears the old password is not required !
I wonder if this is due to the current account being an Admin account ?
Sorry for all of the trouble guys....thanks for your help.

This would be a weak malware. How much time can you deal with not using the pc You could build a windows boot usb with a couple choice options to change the password to a new one or even blank.
