I am no racist by any count but this has to make you think..

I was riding out to my old house yesterday to get some more stuff to bring to the new house. I was in the Durango and everyone knows its a Stock system and can barely rattle its own mirrors when turned up Well this young black cop pulled me over and said to turn down the radio and go on my way. Now yea i did have it turned up but you had to be within 10 feet to hear it and guess what the song was.... It was "Play that funky music" It took everything in me from saying "You a young male black cop pulled this young white male over for playing "Play that funky music white boy" loud thats not even rattling the side view mirrors YET all these black guys riding around in the box Chevy's and bubbles are not being pulled over when there music is so loud when they drive past your house it rattles every window in your house like the sonic boom."

Should i go to the police station and say something?

    Hi NJ

Kinda scary I bet as well as HUH WTH!

To be honest some do use abuse of power, but going to the police station could cause you to end up being singled out in the future for un-warrented attention, so make a note of this incident and if it happens again from same cop then do go to the station and report it to senior officer.

Hard decision to make I'm afraid on what to do, dammed if you do and dammed if you dont, although I would personally try to let it go and just see if as I mentioned above if it happens again then act.

If you do anything it might put a target on your back.
He was a jerk as so many white cops too.

I'd say to forget about it - if you go to the cops here to complain about an officer, 95% of the time they try to get you riled up enough that they can arrest you. rolleyes

Around here each city has it's own noise violations, they range from 25ft-50ft from the vehicle and the officer has to be able to clearly hear it. I have seen many young officers get cocky because of their power and do things like this however being that he is an officer fighting any ticket in court is very hard. From experience, the best thing to do is just to pay it and get it over with. It's not a traffic citation so it won't hurt you in points or insurance, well that is depending on how the DPS does things there. If you didn't get a ticket, then I would suggest letting it go.

It sounds like you didn't get a ticket, just a warning. I, personally, would just let it go. Might just be a rookie, trying to show his "power". Possible race didn't even factor into the situation.
