I was thinking about getting a lapdance too.. I have a few singl... oh .. you said lapTOP.. hmm. in that case.

I wouldn't waste your time with this one. Try to find something around 300MHz with at least 128 MB of RAM if you're not concerned with uber power. But even that 100MHz would frustrate the crap out of you, especially with 16MB of RAM.

 

But Jim, it's only $10.00!

 

For the record, I was joking. A 486 was the computer that Eric and I started on and used to sell on ebay to get $$ for our present computer. That was at least 5 years ago, and it was slow as molasses back then!! lol!

I wouldn't get a laptop unless you need the mobility. In general, more money for less performance and less reliable than desktops, although you guys have had more than your share of problems. IIRC, fried components seems to be a way of life for you. Do you have GOOD surge protection on your computer? If not, get some quick. Not the 10 buck stips, a real computer-grade surge protector.

 

10.00 or not.. the level of frustration would eventually outweigh the thought havig only spent 10.00..

It looks huge, and the screen looks tiny. I would have bought that because I love old computers. I'm thinking about building a retro system with Windows 3.11. I have the floppies. I also want to buy a Palm Pilot 1000. It would also be cool to have an old laptop with one of those Rolodex REX things. Those looked so cool when they came out.
