I Wonder If This Is Really From Netgear

This window appeared in the lower right-hand corner of my center screen. It's not showing up in Task Manager, either in Applications or Processes. I do have a Netgear wireless adapter, but I'm no longer using it. I'm afraid it may actually be malware, so I don't want to touch it. But at present, it doesn't appear to be going away. Any suggestions?

 

Are you using any driver or software updaters? Does the NetGear app itself check for updates?

 

I'm not sure what you mean by "driver" in this context.

No, I don't think I'm running anything in real time that makes sure all my software is the latest versions, unless Wise Care 365 does, which I'm not sure about, and Glary Utilities will check that when I do a scan.

I've never known it to do so before.

But one thing I DO know is that I've never seen this window before.

 

What I meant by "driver updater" was a device driver updater like Driver Booster from Iobit.

The NetGear app MAY have had an update released but, do your scan just to make sure it's not something malicious.

 

No, I don't have a device driver updater. I guess Netgear just had an update recently that led it to put up this window when the following update was available, because I did full scans with Avira and MB and they found nothing. So I just clicked on the X in the upper right-hand corner of the Netgear window and it disappeared. Better safe than sorry.
