At an associate's office there is an IBM desktop system running NT4. It has an IBM optical mouse (MO28UO) hooked up to it, but for some reason the scroll wheel isn't working. Since I can't go on-site to troubleshoot it, can anyone suggest some steps I can talk the associate through over the phone to get the wheel working? I'm not familiar with NT, though– is this just a driver issue? Considering both the computer and mouse are IBM-made, they should work properly together.

Make sure the driver he is using is the appropriate and up to date driver...not some generic driver that windows automatically loads!!

Does he have software that came with the mouse?? If not, download the correct and latest version of driver specific to the make and model of the mouse and then use the device manager to uninstall and reinstall the correct driver!! You might get away with just simply putting the driver software medium in the drive and then tell the device manager to update the driver!!
