Hi everyone. I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 Prof 64bit on this desktop.....http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/si...ac.admitted=1409368308054.876444892.492883150

It tells me it can't do it on the 120GB SSD (Kingston SV100S2128G ATA Device). My 2TB Data drive is ATA ST2000DM001-ICHI SCSI Disk Device. Will any of the upgrades on the page I've mentioned help me in this process? There appears no where in the BIOS 786G3v3.12 where I can change IDE to AHCI to accommodate Windows 8. Windows 7 Prof 64bit installs just fine. SATA Emulation is IDE in the Storage Tab of BIOS and can't be changed.

    Thank you.

Windows 8 doesn't require AHCI, and your 2TB drive is SATA, not SCSI.

Can you tell us the errors you are actually getting?

I have this workstation at work and run Windows 8.1 on it without issue, and am getting an SSD soon.

Thanks. However, it seems to have righted itself. :)

Gotta love it when that happens.

Would love it more if it didn't have to happen :p
