My daughter just received her laptop back from being repaired. The screen was cracked and some things needed to be done to the insides as well (I'm not sure what exactly). About 3 days after receiving it, there was a 'battery not found error'. It's an internal battery.

I call Square Trade because repairs are guaranteed for 30 days under their claims. By the way, I love Square Trade and would highly recommend them.

Customer Service: Square Trade Claims, how can I help you?

Me: Hello, I just got our laptop back from being repaired and it is now no functioning when unplugged because the battery is not showing up.

CS tech: Ma'am, you always have to have a laptop plugged in when you first turn it on.

    Wtf? Idiot

It went on from there with me not being nice at all after the idiocy continued, but ended with it will be going back again and will be sure to be included in the previous claim (which he tried to tell me may not be the case).

    Last month good enough?
From Asus, who I love to buy from...
"Who did you buy the laptop from?"
    "Fry's"
"I don't see them as an authorized seller, you will have to talk to them about your guarantee"
    From Fry's
"You did not buy our extended coverage so although the laptop is under a month old your only recourse is with the manufacturer"

My second call to Asus got me an RMA and I have it back fully repaired for free.

    Hehehe good ones :-D
Yeah early this year bought four brand new Canon MG 7160 printers from Harvey Norman on special. One had a blocked printhead three weeks later and deep cleaning didn't fix it so it went back under warranty for a free repair. Picked it up and there was a bill for $175 and when I queried this they said the warranty is void when you use non genuine Canon ink cartridges. He said there were cartridges labelled as Canon cartridges that were just cheap Chinese copies like the ones I was using. I pointed out they were the original cartridges supplied by Canon in the sealed box from brand new. He came back after making several phone calls and apologised. He then grabbed the bill off me and ripped it up.
Don't know if they try this with everyone but this time common sense prevailed ;):cool

    From my Son
    CEO
"Why can't you upgrade that department to Win 7? XP is no longer supported."
    Son
"Our legacy software is not compatible. We would need to spend $4,000 per computer."
    CEO
"Win 7 is no where near $4,000. You had better check your facts."

For as long as I've had a cell phone, it has bounced from full bars of whatever the best service is available to roaming, all while standing in one place. I have been told by Verizon Wireless techs on various occasions:
"If you're driving by a hospital, your service might go out."
"You live by a river, and that's why your phone jumps from 4G LTE to roaming. The signal will bounce off the water."
"You're close to Canada, so your phone might be searching for service from a Canadian tower."
"You're close to Lake Michigan, so your phone might be searching for service from a Wisconsin tower."
"You're close to Lake Michigan, so your phone might be searching for service from a Chicago tower."
"You live where there are several towers, so your phone might be bouncing between them trying to get the best service."
