IDT high definition audio CODEC - no sound, use scanner ?

    No sound.
    Problem with IDT high definition audio CODEC (scrnshot attached).
    Tried all ways of fixing, driver, unistall, reinstall, but not working (code 10 etc, per scrnshot).
    One suggestion was to go the easy route, and use software like 'DriverUpdate' (http://www.driverupdate.net/), a pay for use scanning software.
    Also at the same site is promoted SlimDrivers.
    Anyone with any info about those scanners, and/or other suggestion/s ?
