IE 32bit won't open but 64bit and firefox will

    windows 7 64bit os
    click on internet explorer 32bit nothing happens
    click on windows update can't connect
    internet explorer 64bit opens
    firefox opens fine

    things i have tried
    reset internet options
    winsock reset
    opened IE with no addons
    uninstalled any antivirus/firewall software
    scanned for viruses with combofix and malwarebytes
    upgraded IE from 8 to 9
    uninstalled and reinstalled IE
    microsoft mr fix it for IE
    tried in safe mode with networking

    Still doesn't work. please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    Is this from the listing in program or from an icon either on the desktop or the quick launch bar?

    Open windows explorer and go to
    C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
    and click on iexplore.exe
    Does it open?

    Yes I have tried from program folder. Also right clicked on explorer.exe and ran as admin

    So it opens.
    What is the size of explore.exe (32 bit)?

    Go here to reinstall or repair IE 9 in Win 7
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378
    Of course the first step has you start IE and if yours doesn't open, you can skip Method 1 and head for Method 2, download and reinstall.
