Since the last update of IE 6, I am unable to use the e-mail again after checking for e-mail the first time. I get a need password / username dialog box if I try to check the mail after the first time, AND it does not accept my username and pw. I have to reboot the computer to make it work again. Shutting down / restarting Browser/ Outlook explorer does not fix the problem. I also installed the program XP smoker yesterday ( the day the problem started), so maybe that is causing the problem.
I'm running XP SP 1A, June 2003 IE6 security update on a ASUS L8400-B laptop, 600 Mhz with INTEL speedstep technology (Geez, I sound like a bad ad) - up to 750. I use a PCMIA modem 56K, since the software modem was not workable with XP. ( and sucked anyway)

Suggestions for other browsers or email program are welcome, Cuz if I keep having this problem and it can't be fixed I will go nuts.:D :( :D :( :D

i would start with un-doing all the things that were done with XP smoker and uninstall it.. then test..

as for an IE alternative.. use opera (check main page for link).

Or Mozilla. I've had much better luck with Mozilla than Opera.

I never liiked mozilla, it just didn't have an intuitive feel to it. I do however love opera 7. BIG improvement over opera 6 (i've been with opera since v4) You might want to try 7 if you haven't. I'll have to try the new mozilla to see what improvements they've made since I tried it a while ago.

Mozilla 1.4 is nice, IMO. It takes too long to load, but it doesn't have the random bugs and crashes Opera had for me. If you DL the Mozilla Mouse Gestures Plug-In, I don't see much reason to keep using Opera. Mozilla has tabbed browsing, etc.

Of course, MyIE2 has all of that, too. So I've now dumped Mozilla for that. I still use Mozilla for the JavaScript console, though. Helps much when debugging JavaScript.
