    Hi all,
I'm working on a friend's computer who is having a problem with IE 6. She's running XP Home SP1. Antivirus and spyware scanners are installed and up to date with nothing found. When going to most websites, www.msn.com, windows update, yahoo, and hotmail, for example, the page will somewhat start to load. After a little bit of the page loads, IE will refresh the page around 5 times by itself. IE will then display a message stating: Operation Cancelled. I read something on Microsoft's site about this error on .asp pages, but I couldn't find anything about this message dealing with a .com. Also, in IE under the Security tab of Internet Properties, I cannot change the Security Level. The boxes are grayed out. One more thing: In the Web content zone settings, all of the icons for the different zones (i.e. Internet, Local Intranet, etc) all have a picture of a piece of paper with the IE logo on the left hand side, with a picture of two keys on the right hand side. Not sure what the issue is here. Please let me know if you know of something that I can try. Thanks!!!
PS: I have her using Firefox 1.0 right now and it works fine....I knew it would :)

Here are some screen shots to show you what I'm talking about. The first one is something that I forgot about in the first post. I circled it and put the arrow to show you what I mean. Not sure why this is coming up??

    mrudella,

Look in your Internet Options again and see if the information below describes what you are seeing.

When you open Internet Options Security tab, you may be unable to alter the security setting for any Zone, because the Custom Level and Default Level buttons may be greyed out.

    Matacumbie,
Yeah it does. Take a look at my third post and click the second picture. It will show the Internet Options tab with my problems (i.e. different icons and grayed out buttons). I'm still not sure why the paged will automatically reload like 5 times though??

Duh, I didn't even notice your pictures you posted.

Anyway, have a look at the article and suggested fix below. Be sure to follow the instructions if you decide to try it, I am not sure that is your problem because it doesn't list or mention any other symptoms.
