    Hi guys,

My PC is infected with Malware and I am a continually being re-directed to other sites when I try to go through my regular search engine (google). I have tried to follow the Major Geeks 'Read & Run first' post but none of the programmes will run. I have looked through the HJ Log and removed what looked like suspicious lines. I have also been through Add Remove Programes - removing 1 of your listed malware programmes. I seem only to be able to acces sites that are stored under my favorites and also my email but cannot access any other sweb site. The PC is slow to load up and can take 2 or 3 attempts. I have down loaded SB Search and Destroy but I get and error reading the database so it will not run. The same goes with Spyware Doctor. I am running out of ideas and would be very grateful for any help that you clever people could give.......many thanks. I am running Win XP. I am presently on my lap top as my PC can't access this site.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Are you 100% sure of this??? If you did not try every single step and every single program then start again because some of this should definitely work. If you don't really attempt properly execute these instructions and get us the logs we need, we cannot help you.

You should not be using HJT on your own as you could be removing things you need. I suggest you restore from the backups whatever you have removed.

We do not ask you to install this program nor do we want you to. So if you installed this, please uninstall it immediately.

The PC will only connect to those web sites listed in 'my favourites' and is being prevented from connecting to any other web sites (so SpyBot is unable to get to the databade and will not load. To add to my woes the 'Restore' in XP will not work. I get as far as chosing a time/ date for the restore point and I click 'next' and nothing happens. I will try each step again and see how far I get. Thanks for the response friend.

You don't need to update Spybot online. You can also get the updates manually. Also you could just skip the update and run a scan or you can skip Spybot altogether and continue.

Manual updates for Spybot can be found here: Spybot Search and Destroy Update

The READ & RUN ME also explains how to get manual updates for SAS and MBAM. Have you tried running them yet?
