IE isn't working correctly

Internet Explorer doesn't seem to be working for some odd reason. It hasn't concerned me too much because my primary browser is FireFox. Anyway, when I start up IE, it just sits there. I try to visit other sites and stuff, but it just sits there. Windows Update doesn't work neither. I'm very baffled by this strange behavior.

I'm not the resident expert, but after working on some friends' computers and my own, as well as family members, I'd say it might be. Not saying it is, but, it sure doesn't hurt to post in the spyware forum.

I agree with Jak3y. In my opinion, it is either spyware or a virus. The smoking gun is that you are blocked from windows update.

I'd download and run Spybot, Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster. They're all free. You might also download HiJackThis and post your log. McAfee also has a free anti-virus scanner that scans for 30 to 50 of the latest viruses (Stinger.exe).

Lastly, I'd try getting to windows updates after each step because they are vital to preventing a reoccurrence.
