IE not opening pages

    Vista SP2, 4GB RAM, IE 8

    I can ping out to Google or yahoo etc...
    I can not open any page evening using ip
    I can open my network and print or move/copy files
    I have used different networks (stopped by some free wifi hot stops)
    I'm just a little lost any help.

    Three things to try:

    a) Open control panel, click on network connections then right click local area connection. In the next menu, scroll down to TCP/IP and right click it. Go to properties and make sure that obtain an IP address automatically is checked.

    b) Open IE
    Tools tab > Internet Options > restore Adanced Settings and Reset Internet Explorer settings.
    Restart IE.

    c) Tools
    Internet Options
    Connections tab
    LAN Settings button
    Uncheck "Use a proxy server"

    Do you have another browser like Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera on the computer?
