IE not working

Hi,
There is some issue with IE 6 on my laptop at home. There is some malware as well which I have not yet dealt with. I have now downloaded Firefox and am getting to the internet. IE 6 does not open when I click on the icon. On doubleclicking the IE 6 icon, it shows the thinking cursor and then the cursor goes back to the normal pointer and nothing happens. I need IE6 for using some web applications. Please help!

After you get rid of the malware, in your Windows Explorer > tools > folder options, make sure you have enabled (checked) "show hidden files and folders" and "display the contents of system folders" as well as unchecking "hide extensions for known files types" . Then go to C: > Windows > inf and double click on ie.inf and have your XP cd ready, and it will reinstall IE6 for you.
