If you are comfortable with IE, use it
since you do want to try something new

Mozillza FireFox would be a good browser to recomend
It does keep things "cleaner" than IE

    you can download it here:
    http://majorgeeks.com/download2248.html

if you don't like it you can still remove it
or if you just need time to get used to it
    use them both

if i decide to get mozilla..can i remove IE? and how? or there is no need to
    remove IE?

    no need to remove it.

    I wouldn't remove it
    just don't use it

    right click the desktop>properties>desktop>customize desktop
and uncheck the box removing the icon from your desktop
if your default is Firefox, you won't use it

if you just downloaded it from here(MG) its already up to date
there is ( I believe) an automatic update option in the options under tools

Mozilla Firefox is better. The American Government recomends it over IE because they consider IE volnerable to attacks and hijacking! Seriously.

Mozilla and firefox are excellent browsers---however they won`t read some pages that IE will.

Definitely keep IE in case you need it for the pages that mozilla does`nt read.
Hopefully all sites will write proper code which will be acceptable for mozilla`s much safer and efficient browsers.

smokinbls the title thing is overrated

from my own expierence i hate I.E.
i spent about 1 month trying to fix my puter ( with the help of chaslang )
many trojans ( 25+ ) things that i had downloaded were not saved. my computer was just a mess. also thing were downloaded with out my knowledge
firefox on the other hand is great. i get limited spyware NO popups and it runs faster ( i have dial up )

if for any reasonn you might want to see the problems i had look at this link

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=39685

stick with mozila firfox, and use I.E. only for updates :) :)

Yep - it's in the "tools", "options" then go to the left column and choose "advanced" --

I just downloaded Firefox a few days ago. You have to go and download separate extensions...like "ad block", "IE View" -- so those pages you come across that don't load properly you simply right click in the middle of the page while open in Firefox and you choice to "View this page in IE", "windows update", "open download", "Tab Browser Preference", etc.

    You can find them at:

    http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/

It's much faster than IE (and I have dial-up) and you can set your homepage to be a SET of pages - so a set of 3 or 4 tabbed browser pages can open all at once as your "home page". Then you can choose to open a new link as a "tabbed" page or not -- it's pretty helpful. Plus, of course, there's the whole security PLUSes.

    New here...

    Another vote for Firefox.

You need to set that stuff up for your new browser.

IN Firefox, go get Sun Java:

    Sun Java

Again, while IN Firefox, get Flash and Shockwave:

    Macromedia

Spend some time to play around with your Firefox settings and you're bound to fall in love. Tabbed browsing alone makes far superior to IE, security holes aside.

Do, however, keep IE on your system. There are still times that you will run across a site that isn't compatable with anything but IE and you may need it. As well, I have Opera - like Mozilla, it also uses tabbed browsing. However, I use Mozilla 99% of the time.

Maybe you forgot this post --
If you go to Help does it say "about mozilla" or "about Mozilla firefox" ??? If it says the latter, then you have "Firefox" -- which is what most of the people on this post are talking about.

go here - and at the right hand top area click on "download" -- that's firefox (which is probably what you had -- but you didn't have the extensions/plug-ins added to the browser yet) -- which you have to do yourself -- no biggie - and it doesn't take long (I have dial-up too)

I knew that too -- but from the earlier posts it looked like that might have been where he downloaded it from and since he was "confused" at which one he downloaded -- I thought he might want to go to their homepage
(put smiley face here -- which for some reason I still can't do in Firefox when I'm here on the board -- although EVERYONE else can, I know --- still "weird")
