IE Running all the time?

I have win xp home edition and I just noticed that when I open Task Manager, 3 incidents of Internet Explorer are running under processes altough I am not on the internet.
Is this normal?

Did you close the browser as normal or did the browser end on a error?

 

I did close it as normal

 

it should dissappear within a few seconds if there is a delay if not there is a problem as its not registering on task manager that IE is not closed and ended.

Try ending them manually then restart the computer once restarted open IE again then open task manager close the IE browser and see if they end automatically.

 

If you have iexplore.exe processes running with IE closed, most likely, you're infected with a bootkit.
