I was getting frequent pop up SCRIPT ERROR boxes in IE-6 so I upgraded to IE-7 and am continuing to get them.

They say the following (or similar things):

    -------------------------------------------------
    INTERNET EXPLORER SCRIPT ERROR

An error has occured in the script on this page:

The script error says "Undefined is null or not an object"

    CODE= 0

"Do you want to continue running scripts on this page"

    YES/NO
    ---------------------------------------------------

This happens on many sites when I click a link - then it goes to the link
whether I click yes or no - makes no difference

I went to tools/options/advanced and I had already checked both of the "disable script debugging" boxes, and "display notifications about every scrip error" is not checked. So something else is wrong.

I don't know where else to check to turn off these horrible IE pop up boxes.

please give me a hint... these are SO annoying *I looked at the other "script error" threads and found nothing relevent)

I know just how you feel here - very frustrating indeed! Since you are continuing to get these similar/different, etc. Internet Explorer script error pop ups on so many sites while using IE I'd suggest trying the following steps:

    (1) Open Internet Explorer > go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs > click "Reset Web Settings."

    (2) Then run a file check via the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) which will restore any damaged files in IE - The instructions are on this link - (Scroll down to: Use the System File Checker tool to scan all files that are protected by Windows File Protection)

    (3) Try the routine for 'Third Party Browser Extensions' too (Just below "System File Checker" instructions)

Important Note: Have your Windows CD (or restore CD) handy during the System File Check to restore any missing/damaged files.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for your quick response. Regarding step 1. :
    (1) Open Internet Explorer > go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs > click "Reset Web Settings."

In my IE7 I find no "Reset Web Settings" at that location or under any of the other Internet Options tabs

Did you want me to uninstall IE7 and revert to IE6? is that an option in IE6?

Also when (if) I make it to step three, I have no windows or restore CD's - this is an HP with an Recovery partition D: ....... will that suffice?

    >> In my IE7 I find no "Reset Web Settings" at that location or under any of the other Internet Options tabs <<

As for your question regarding IE7 - there’s a new feature in Internet Explorer 7 lets you perform a one click restore using Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES). To invoke RIES from IE7 go to Tools Menu > Internet Options > Advanced Tab and click on the "Reset…" button.

After RIES is run, you will return to the default settings of Home Pages, Search Scopes, Browsing History, Form Data, Passwords, Appearance Settings, Toolbars, and ActiveX controls.

    >> Also when (if) I make it to step three, I have no windows or restore CD's - this is an HP with an Recovery partition D: ....... will that suffice? <<

Note: Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with how to use "HP with a Recovery Partition D" instead of the Windows CD when using the System File Checker (perhaps someone else who is familiar with this can chime in here).

I was able to locate this on the HP and Compaq PCs site: Using System File Checker to Restore System Files however I could not find any specific information regarding how to use SFC with the HP Recovery Partition.

    Good Luck!

Is this one of the error messages?

Windows cannot find '(null)'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Yes, Steve, I think I might have seen that one a couple of days ago (not sure). At the moment, the only two error messages I can locate are:

"Object Doesn't support this property or method"

    and

"Undefined is null or not an object"

    (sorry about Cal, tough one)

Thank you Compuable. When you said to Reset Web Settings I didn't think you meant the button which says it Resets all I E Settings. Plus I shied away from that since it said to do that only if my browser was unstable, which I didn't think it was. I will go back there and Reset I E Settings and see if anything goes "poof"
