I've been having problems with IE viewing videos online. I've installed all MS updates and I still get the error This page can't be displayed in IE10. Mozilla Firefox works but still has problems viewing videos. It seems like it started after getting a virus I thought I cleared out a few weeks ago. (this is my daughters laptop). the virus had search redirects. Not sure what to check next.

    Thanks
    Frank

My daughter said that she was going to watch a movie online and downloaded a viewer program and that is when the issue started a while back. she didn't inform me until this weekend.

I tried to run Microsoft FixIt program Saturday and it didn't help. That is when I started this thread.

I followed the malware removal guide and have attached the log files from the programs.

The issues of IE10 not able to display any internet page is still present. Other browsers can connect to the internet, but still have issues with internet videos.

    Thanks

Rerun RogueKiller and click on the DNS tab. Have it fix those items.

Then rerun Hitman and have it fix everything in finds.

Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now reboot and rescan with both RogueKiller and Hitman and attach those logs as well. Be sure to tell me how things are running now.

I reran the programs you stated. I then created the reg file and it worked with no problems. Attached are the hitman and Roguekiller text files I got after the reg edit step.

internet explorer still gives me the "This page can't be displayed" page on any internet site I click on. firefox is working fine.

    thanks,
    Frank

Did you fix the DNS issues found in RogueKiller. You also did not remove the PUP's in Hitman.

Run them again and fix those issues. Then reboot and rescan with both and attach those new logs as well.

I fixed DNS issues found in RogueKiller and I deleted all items in Hitman.

I Then rebooted and rescan with both and attach those new logs as well.

The DNS issues keep showing up in RogueKiller after I click on the fix DNS button and then reboot and rescan. Not sure why.

Still can't view any webpages in IE.

    Thanks

I don't think this is a malware issues. But let's try this:

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.

    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup

    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

    Good to know.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link

Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0
