IE6 connecting but not showing

hi guys
tried to connect to the internet using a friends computer but does not seem to receive any info, he has a dell 3000 desktop,XP,IE6, dial-up 56k.
upon logging on, the the two little computers light up, password and username work ok, browser fires up, but then nothing, it dosen't even come back with "page cannot be displayed" or error 404, it justy as though there s nothing comming in.
Any idea's as what to try?

Sounds like an ISP problem, as the modem is dialing in and connecting. You could try changing the home page to Major Geeks.com and see if that changes anything.
