Have you tried this open IE7 go to tools, internet options, on the security tab you have 4 zones reset them all to custom level click on each one then click custom button. Then go onto the advanced tab click on restore advanced settings then apply. Now try IE7

i have the exact same problem now. i am running this laptop (which works) on a BT home hub router, yet my PC won't connect on the same router (i have checked swapping the cables over and both work on this laptop). i have been on the phone to the ISP (BT) who went through a few checks- ping and ipconfig checks- and determined that the problem is not a broadband connection problem, but a problem with getting the info through to Internet Explorer. AFAIK all the old Norton firewall and AV has been removed (thanks to Major Geeks for help there :major), although i have run a few new antispy & anti-rootkit programs yday, so not sure if it's just the IE7 that is bad? (found a few hidden (think they were jpg?) files in the rootkit search, now deleted).
please help. is it just a case of getting firefox or something similar on and getting rid of IE7? thanks

    Richdio,
i don't think i am able to help at all- i am totally clueless, however, i am now on- i downloaded firefox on here and have since swapped the ethernet cable for a USB cable and it now works. only reason i was using ethernet was because the USB cable caused problems before, but hey, it works at the moment :)
    good luck.
i can try to remember what the guy from the ISP (who did a check on ipconfig and ping testing) did, if you need that - let me know.
