IE7 can't organize favourites

Today I downloaded Internet Explorer 7.

Explorer 6 allowed me to click and drag favourites to where I wanted them on my Favourite list to the left of my screen. 7 does not allow me to do this. I can click and drag to a limited extent. But I cannot click and drag one folder underneath another folder: it either goes straight inside the target folder or sits somewhere on the list where I don't want it.

    Can anyone help?

    Greetings and Welcome to MajorGeeks!

    Are ye quite sure?

I was able to re-organize my default IE7 favorites, with just the mouse. It takes a few seconds for folders to open up, when ye hover over them.

    Thank you. Yep. I'm sure.

I can transfer a folder inside another folder.

What I can't do is move a folder under another folder on the list. I can't rearrange the order of folders on the list. For example: if I want to move the "carmudgeons" folder under the "vatican" folder on my list, I can't do that. The "carmudgeons" folder either goes into the "vatican" folder or it goes into the folder before or after the "vatican" folder or it goes to the bottom of the whole list or it stays where it is.

Also, when I use "add favourite" the whole tree of every single folder appears and that is very confusing. It is easier for me to click until I come to the folder I want. IE7 makes it easier for a folder to accidentally go into a folder not asked for and thus be temporarily lost.

This new IE7 is not intuitive and very time intensive to use.

Btw, I have a lot of favourites and have to have them organized and then reorganized in order to find them and use them quickly. Any comments or suggestions?

    Enuf! Enuf!

I did a system restore and went back to my previous Internet Explorer. Now I can do whatever I want on my favourites list. And I am happy.

Theng is: am I safe with staying with the previous version? I have AVG, Spyblaster, Spybot, and Windows Defender Beta. Also I seem to remember vaguely that Internet Explorer isn't the best thing to use and that Firefox is better. Can anyone explain this?

Also, I have gotten used to using freeware since I removed Symantec from my computer. With AVG going commercial this January, does anyone have any safe freeware alternatives for antivirus protection ?

AVG 7.1 will expire in Jan 07, but AVG 7.5 will be available free:

Windows Defender Beta, will expire next month, but, the official is out:

IMHO, firefox is better than IE6.

When ye were running IE7, and attempting to move folders, under other folders, you didn't get a line while dragging the folder, between two folders? This represents, that the folder, will move between the other folders.
