    Hello,

Need some help. I have a P4, 2.3 Ghz, 1.25 of memmory, 80GB hard drive (50% used or so) and high speed connection. My browser is very slow, for example, when I open IE 7, it takes 20 seconds to load my home page yahoo.com, if I then switch lets say to google, it takes another 15-20 seconds before the image appears, etc.

I have done all the steps mentioned on your link:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

and ran all the scans, etc. I will attach all the log files needed.
    A few results:
    My anitivrus is PCcillin.

    - spybot: all clear
    - ad aware: all clear
    - bitdefender: all clear
    - panda: found 2 spyware, seem to be minor (see log)
    counterspy: all clear

I will attach all the log files I have

Thanks in advance for any feedback,

    Eli

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Problems like you are describing are more frequently related to what you are running and not related to malware. This appears to be your problem and really is not a topic for this forum. I will give you a few tips.

The biggest impact on your perfomance is probably due to Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007.

Also you appear to have used TrendMicro to add thousands of lines to you hosts file which will dramatically slow down your surfing experience and we highly recommend doing things like this. Disable that feature of TrendMicro and all do the below to reset your hosts file to the Microsoft default.

Download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
Also uninstall the Sunbelt CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it now! Then delete the below two folders which may be left behind by the uninstall:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software

Any change to your surfing? If not, I recommend you try totally disabling TrendMicro using MSconfig Startup and also Services tabs to block all TrendMicro processes and service from loading and then see how things look. You can always replace this internet security suite by some less resource hungry free applications. All internet security suites are resource hogs and slow PCs down.

Other than the above, you will have to pursue any other issues with slow IE7 in the Software Forum since this is not due to malware.
